Are Oats Gluten Free? Porridge
Anyone?
Are Oats Gluten Free? Oats are an
interesting thing.. there is a lot of questioning: Are Oats Gluten
Free? Oats them selves are not gluten free, but often they are milled
on production lines which also handle gluten containing cereals like
barley, malt or wheat.
It really depends on the brand that you are eating and your sensitivity
to gluten. Living in new Zealand there are usually some brands I can
have, while other ones may upset me.
But Oats themselves do not contain gluten so they are fine for your
diet assuming they are not cross contaminated.
So next time someone asks you: Are Oats Gluten Free? You can simply
explain to them it is not the oats... its the processing lines that can
be an issue... and its best to check the label
