Can gluten intolerance be diagnosed with a blood test?

I would like to know if gluten intolerance be diagnosed with a simple blood test?

After suffering about 90% of the symptoms listed on this website, and countless trips to the doctor being tested for dozens of other problems (without any results), I want to know if it is worth me going back and asking to be tested for gluten intolerance.

I was under the impression that food elimination diets were the only certain ways of getting a diagnosis. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Incidentally, I am in Palmerston North and I also wonder if there is a particular clinic or doctor that specializes in this.

Diagnosing Coeliac Disease

A blood test is the first step, if positive then a gastroscopy with biopsy will be required to diagnose Coeliac Disease.

Hi Jess,
yes it can, i am much like you and spent last 8 months very sick and my doc done a blood test and thats how they found out I was gluten intolerant... good luck
