I recently visited Verdi Deli for breakfast. I found the service very poor - I had the impression that it was a favour to take my order, let alone service it.
The lady who served me kept her head down the whole time I was ordering, didn't look me in the eye, and let out several sighs as though it was all too hard.
The breakfast was average, salmon etc, and the coffee disappointing. I had asked a local for where the best place was and this was it?
Perhaps based on a good day but I, on a Monday, certainly didn't visit on a good day. In saying this I found NZ lacks the culture of hospitality and this will not be in its favour as a place recommended to visit.
I found the poorest of coffee shops in other countries know how to provide hospitality in the way of service.
It is a very laid back place to visit so please up to the expected service level - a smile works less muscles than a frown.
