Until I experimented with this recipe - I have had pretty bad luck with making my own pizza bases from scratch.
But this time they turned out pretty good - And I had non- gluten free people saying my pizza was delicious so there is hope for me yet!
What You Need To Make Gluten Free Pizzas
600g of Gluten Free Bread Mix (I used Healtheries)
1 1/2 Cups of Warm Water
3 Teaspoons of Active Yeast.
4 Teaspoons of Oil.
In a bowl place the warm water and add the yeast, Stir until it dissolves.
Sift and Add 550g of gluten free bread mix to the water mix, along with the oil, stir until all the lumps are gone.
You may need to add extra flour to get the mix to a less stick consitency.
Flour your bench top and scoop out blobs of dough (depending on the size of pizza you wish to make) sprinkle flour on top and flour your hands so you do not get covered in a sticky mess.
Flatten out the dough until it is around 1/2 a cm thick (these will rise as you cook them). Do the same with the remainder of the bases (this made 6 mini pizzas or three big pizza bases).
Leave the bases to rest for 1 hour to help the yeast develop.
Preheat your oven to 200 degrees then cook the bases for 15 to 20 minutes. It is a very thick bready dough - but delicious.
Once cooked its time to add your favourite toppings. - see my gluten free dinner recipes for some pizza topping ideas.
*note these will still be white when you cook the bases - they tend to brown up when you add the topping - and go a great colour when you use pesto or brush a little oil over the edges.
