I cant get tested for Celiac

by Lesley Moran
(Wellington)

This year, probably largely due to stress, I have had a number of gut problems. I am working on this now with exercise, careful food choices, and massage.

However, the doctor told me I need to do a celiac test. The problem is, in order to do this, I have to eat gluten for 3 months.

Geez no way am I doing that!!! Is it ok to remain undiagnosed? I just don't think doing damage is worth an official tick!

I got tested for gluten allergies IGA IGG in my blood 60 months after going gluten free(although i did cheat a little) and there was still of a high allergy even then.

Thanks for that insight

I can only take one bite of anything with gluten and I start developing blisters in my mouth, so I will pass.

I do have to say however, that since I have gone back to the gym, my gut is better. Its quite a relief.

Hi, I recently got tested and the three weeks of gluten were TERRIBLE!
I was almost 100% sure that I had coeliacs, but it turned out that I'm just sensitive [I'm still getting over the shock].
My point is that it may not actually do your gut damage, if you don't actually have coeliacs. A huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders now, I don't have to freak out if I use the wrong soy sauce anymore.
However my tTg levels weren't very high, if you have high levels I thought that they didn't bother with the biopsy. You might be able to scrape through that way???

I don't know, just an idea. I'm feeling for you!!!

I have never been oficialy tested, but my docotr beielves that with my case it would be pointless putting my body throught that stress, in the end of the day, if u know u react, if u know it hurts u,dont eat it. if you feel beter isnt that all that matters. my lifes changed and i dont need a tick to figure that out or prove it to anybody.
if u think its helping, stick to it
if ur stil getting isuues after gluten free try cutting out lactose for awhile.
cheers
