After years of health problems, during which time I had suspected gluten problems but had only vaguely taken notice of the fact, I hit menopause. I really mean "hit"! The hot flashes were relentless and constant. I tried various alternative hormonal replacements only to find I reacted to them. Then tried my gluten-free diet again, with great success.
These days, provided I remain gluten-free (I can't even have crumbs of gluten foods) and avoid other sensitivities that I have (eg citrus and potato), I no longer have sweats.
One time I visited a restaurant that gave me a dish of food that the waitress claimed to be gluten-free. I had a terrible week of paranoia, panic attacks, feeling suicidal, and sweats. A week later I revisited the same restaurant and asked about the dish, only to find they had used pasta rice, which had caused my symptoms.
With the gluten-free diet my energy levels are far better than ever. I no longer have depression. Provided I remain free from dairy as well, the pain in my hip stays away. I was a mouth-breather all my life due to blocked sinuses for which there was no diagnosis, and now my sinuses are clear. My concentration levels allow me to study with focus that eluded me for most of my life. All bloating and excess weight have disappeared. I could go on...
I don't require a doctor to confirm that a gluten-free diet is beneficial to my over-all health.
