Thanksgiving Dinner

Our granddaughter will be with us for Thanksgiving. She has celiac disease and is on a gluten free diet. I will make her gluten free dishes for sure.

My question is: Is it safe to cook stuffing (it will be for the rest of the family and NOT gluten free) in the turkey without contaminating the meat for my granddaughter?

She does not like stuffing or I'd make it gluten-free.

I just want to thank everyone for the good advice and recipe ideas. I am looking forward to spending Thanksgiving with my step-daughter and granddaughter. Cooking gluten-free will be a challenge, but loads of fun and definitely worth it to ensure a healthy holiday.

No no no it is not safe to cook stuffing in the meat the your grandchild will be eating. even one crumb will make her very sick.I also would make sure anything you use to cut or cook with ie bowls and food processors... are absolutely one hundred percent clean. You don't know if a reaction will just cause a bit of a sore tummy or coarse her to colapse altogether. Her body thinks this food is a poison so treat it as such.

No, as already stated, you can't do that because it won't be safe. You can easily make gluten-free stuffing using corn tortilla chips. This Surprise Stuffing recipe is on my blog at glutenfreeeasily.com. Everyone will like it!

Yes this will cause cross contamination.

One thing I suggest you could do is make stuffing balls and bake them in the oven separately - this is a great way to serve either gluten free or glutenous stuffing.

You can buy organ stuffing mix to make up and put in your bird or you can find recipes for gluten free stuffing that even gluten eaters will enjoy.
