tingling mouth

I have been gluten free for 6 weeks and today on eating some wheat crakers have noticed a tingling in mouth within a couple of hours of eating them.

Is this related and have others the same sensation?

I find I get a tingling mouth if I have soy products or to much msg (which can both contain gluten). I find with certain flavours of rice crackers I get this if I eat to many...

Tingly tongue
by: Jeanette

Funny you should raise that. In my pre-diagnosis days I would often get a tingly tongue if I ate too many biscuits (with gluten) and I guess there may have been other things with gluten that caused it too. Too much risk of sudden then long term adverse reactions these days for me to attempt to eat anything with gluten in it.

GOOD BYE TO BEER
by: Leah

I have been on the GF diet since about May this year. I would get a HUGE swollen tounge that made it really hard to talk about 10 minutes after having half a glass of beer, etc. Even though I am really sensible on my GF diet, I sometimes wonder if I have eaten something with Gluten in it with out knowing. Sometimes I will get mouth ulcers or my tounge swells a little and I wonder could I also be allergic to something else, ie: milk products. Next week I am going to try and go without diary for 2 weeks and see if I notice any difference.

Your not the only one!
by: Lesley Moran

This is one of my first symptoms of eating anything with wheat or gluten in it. My tongue goes numb where the food hit it and within 10 minutes my mouth is swollen and the skin in it peels. This is invariably followed by diahoreea and and upset tummy accompanied by bloating and exhaustion.

Isnt it grand?
